SynesthASIA Fashion Show

I know everyone is giving to haiti right now and that is amazing! but there are also many other people in need of help right now. On Friday, January 29th, a one-of-a-kind event is returning to Metropolis!  SynesthASIA is an annual fashion show for charity that is completely non-profit and showcases local Montreal designers and talent.  The vision of the show is inspired by “synesthesia,” a neurological phenomenon in which the five senses become mixed up, leading to sensations such as seeing sounds or tasting colours.  Following this vision, SynesthASIA incorporates a variety of art mediums such as dance and live music.  In its debut show in January 2009, over 1200 came out in attendance to support the cause and $9000 was donated to charity. This year, look forward to clothing by: Mighty Healthy, Dinh Ba, Preloved, and many more!  The show will also feature internationally known drummer Paul Lizzi. All proceeds from the event will fund the care and education of orphaned, disabled, and special needs children in Sri Lanka. there’s no natural phenomenon as impressive or beautiful (for me) as the sky. sure flowers are cool, mountains are big and the ocean is pretty dope. but there’s just something about the sky that always makes me stop and stare and proclaim its beauty out loud. this is why i love flying and always weasel my way into a window seat.

SYNESTHASIA FASHION SHOW 2010: model & dance auditions

SynesthASIA is Montreal-based, charity fashion show raising funds for the Medical Insitute for Tamils which provides humanitarian aid and emergency supplies to civil-war refugees in Sri Lanka. Inspired by the artistic movement based on a neurological condition of cross-wired senses, “synesthesia,” the name of the fashion show, “SynesthASIA,” is a play on words to describe the artistic vision of the show. SynesthASIA is an original amalgamation of local Montreal designers and talent, with a contemporary Asian slant to each scene.

Last year, the show made its debut at the Metropolis, attracting over 1200 audience members as well as designers, stylists, magazines, and photographers, and raising $9,000 for the Ashraya Initiative for Children, an orphanage for street-children in Pune, India.

This year the show will return to Metropolis on FRIDAY JANUARY 29th, 2010. Join us as we aim to raise $20,000 for MIFT, celebrate fashion, design, and culture, and party for a great cause!
